A Cleaner /detergent is a synthetic cleaning agent—usually in liquid or powder form—designed to break down and remove dirt, grease, and stains from surfaces, clothes, or textiles. Unlike soap, detergents contain surfactants that remain effective in hard water, allowing them to bind with, suspend, and wash away soil.
Product advantages
Wetting and penetration:
Cleaner/Detergents increase the spreading and wetting ability of water by reducing its surface tension. This allows the cleaning solution to penetrate the fiber structure of textiles or the surface to be washed.
Absorption:
A layer of soap or detergent is absorbed at the interfaces between the water and the surface to be washed, and between the water and the soil. This creates an ionic layer that helps to separate dirt from the surface.
Dispersion:
Soil is dispersed from the surface into the wash water. Mechanical agitation and high temperature aid in this process. In the case of hand soap, soil is dispersed in the foam created by the mechanical action of the hands.
Prevention of redeposition:
The soap or detergent prevents the dirt from being redeposited onto the cleaned surface by suspending it in a protective colloid.

Anionic detergents carry a negative charge on their hydrophilic end, which enhances their ability to remove dirt and grease.

Zwitterionic detergents contain both positive and negative charges, making them effective in a range of pH conditions. They are used in personal care products like shampoos and body washes.
